Ahmed Mohamed Muslim Teen Arrested at School for Inventing Homemade Clock


Ahmed Mohamed, a Muslim teenager who is only 14 years old was been arrested in Irving, Texas, on Monday for bringing a home-made clock to his school. The teachers thought that the home-made clock was a hoax bomb and immediately rang the police for further investigation. According to Ahmed, he was so excited, the moment, he invented a home-made digital clock out of a pencil box. He was surprised by the reaction when he arrived to the school. The little genius was hoping to be appreciated for his invention but ended up his day with a unjustified punishment.


The photo which you can see above is the proof of how passionate Ahmed is about science and that he want to be a genius scientist in his future. Ahmed’s in his NASA t-shirt would have never imagined that this is what he has to pay to be a genius scientist. He looks very confusing and very upset as he has been forced to handcuff while he was been taken to the police custody.

“They arrested me and they told me that I committed the crime of a hoax bomb, a fake bomb,” Ahmed told media when he was been released by the authorities.



A big question that was asked by many about this incident is Ahmed’s religion. The American-Islamic Relations has also connected their-self with Ahmed’s situation, and lawyers has been arranged for this case. The social media is also actively following this story, and there has been some overwhelming response in favour of Ahmed. A twitter hashtag named #IStandWithAhmed has been trending in different parts of the world, and the story has been picked up by celebrities like Mark Zuckerberg, Barack Obama, Wil Wheaton, Hilary Clinton, and more. A photo has been revealed by Irving Police, possibly under the social media anger, the photo clearly shows a digital home-made clock sitting inside a pencil box.

While Mohamed was been interrogating, authorities has stopped him by contacting his parents or any of his siblings, and took away his invention along with his tablet and other tech devices he brought to the school.

Ahmed’s father, Mohamed Elshassan, who is an immigrant from Sudan, is very upset with whatever happened to his child and told the Morning News that my child was only mistreated because of his name. He only wanted to invent something good for the humanity. He further said that, school authorities should have contacted me and informed me about the whole situation which they did not bother to do.

Zuckerberg believes that future belong to the people like Ahmed. Zuckerberg also tried to motivate Ahmed by asking him to built such cool products in future. Mark also showed interest in meeting with this little genius.


As we have seen immensive social media response, this is an official response from US government regarding Ahmed’s situation. US President Barack Obama himself showed interest to see the product in the White House. He showed his gratitude by saying that USA should inspire more kids like Ahmed, and this is what makes America a great country. Let’s hope to see Ahmed’s clock in White House soon.


We wanted to close this story on a polite note by confirming that Irving Chief Larry Boyd has released a statement regarding Ahmed’s situation confirming that there were no charges on Ahmed and they’re happy to see such talent are growing in USA every day, during a press conference, in Irving, Texas.

It is also important to highlight at this point that Ahmed’s family claims that he was been suspended from the school for three days. It is unclear at this point, whether Ahmed has been taken back to the school or not since he was released without any charges.
