7. Aaron Carter
The former teen sensation and younger brother to Nick Carter once filed a lawsuit against his own parents in 2002 when he was 16 years old. Apparently, according to him, they have been taking money out of his earnings without his permission, worth over 100,000 dollars. To make things worse for the parents, his brother Nick Carter followed his footsteps and filed a lawsuit to severe ties between him and his parents professionally and even personally.
6. Kobe Bryant
Kobe Bryant loves his parents. He loved them so much he would always shower them with gifts, and keep his most prized memorabilia at his parent’s home. However, one day they decided to auction off those gifts, prizes and memorabilia, which hurt him so bad and upset him greatly to the point where he decided to take them to court. And because he loved them, they reached to a settlement, where his parents are only allowed to sell 6 items out of all the memorabilia he gave them. Out of the action, they still managed to bag 500,000 dollars, in which they used to buy a new home in Las Vegas. His parents then made a public apology to Kobe for hurting his feelings. Aww….
5. Macaulay Culkin
Macaulay Culkin was one of the most popular child stars of his time, becoming a millionaire at age 12. Unfortunately, his parents controlled him and his fortune too much, to the point that he decided to file a lawsuit over them to gain control of his $11 million worth of fortune. He won, and his parents did not have any rights on his money any more. In fact, they no longer had parental rights over him. It upset his parents so much they didn’t talk to him for 15 years. Macaulay Culkin now tours with his comedy rock band, Pizza Underground – and recovering from his drug addiction.
4. Gary Coleman
The child star who was a phenomenal for his performance as the quite Arnold Jackson in the popular sitcom Different Strokes, he made $100,000 per episode. However, due to conflict, he sued his adoptive parents and won 1.3 million in 1993. His life, has unfortunately been a down fall ever since. He suffers from an incurable kidney disease, and because of that it made him poor due to the medical bills. Gary Coleman passed away in 2010.
3. Leighton Meester
Leighton Meester has a unique backstory to her. She was born in jail after he mother was sentenced to prison for drug smuggling. She made it as an actress and singer, and made a fortune. She later sued her mother, Constance Meester, in 2011. This is because she sent over $7,000 monthly to her to take care of her younger brother, Lex, who was supposedly sick.
2. LeAnn Rimes
Country singer, LeAnne Rimes filed a lawsuit against her father in 2000, after discovering that he had stolen up to 7 million of her money in the span of 5 years. Rimes was only 17 at that time, so her mother, Belinda Rimes took charge of the lawsuit. She hired an accountant to investigate where the money had gone to, and turned out that daddy dearest took them. She won the case, but in 2011, they reconciled.

Wait, what? I thought they were tight? Sisters Kourtney, Khloe and Kim sued their step mother, Ellen Kardashian for selling off pages of their father, Robert Kardashian’s personal diary to the media. They were outraged because apparently the pages of the “diary” claimed that their biological mother, Kris Jenner was an abusive mother and abandoned them. Don’t mess with the Kardashians!
